Comprehensive draft proposals for smart city development in 1500 acres of area that attracted the maximum number of votes will be prepared for a final round of deliberations and finalisation, an Andhra Pradesh official said.
Among the three areas that have been put for voting are Ramakrishna Beach covering Karakachettu Road, Beach Road, KGH Road and Waltair Main Road to Jagadamba Junction with 73 per cent followed by Rushikonda 17 per cent.
Releasing the details, Minister for HRD Ganta Srinivasa Rao said the final goal should be Visakhapatnam standing in the first 20 cities in the smart city challenge irrespective of the area.
The Ramakrishna Beach area has several advantages like good mix of land use and activities, 15 slums and popular recreation spots and heritage buildings and convergence with disaster relief measures including shore protection.
he improvements proposed include Wi-Fi hotspots, smart light poles with air pollution measuring devices, smart bus and bike stops, solar roof top opportunities and banning use of plastic.
Municipal Commissioner Pravin Kumar said the draft plan as per the guidelines of the MoUD would be prepared by Dec 2 or 3 and consultations would be held for a week. The proposals have to be submitted to the Union Government by Dec 15.
