Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu announced the first set of 20 winners of the Smart Cities Challenge. They will receive financial support from the centre for the Smart City Proposals they have developed in partnership with the people during the Challenge process. Their work will now be to turn their proposals into a reality.
Bhubaneswar has emerged on top among the 20 cities, which have been selected as part of the first batch of the Smart City initiative.
The selected cities are:
– Bhubaneswar, Odisha
– Pune, Maharashtra
– Jaipur, Rajasthan
– Surat, Gujarat
– Kochi, Kerala
– Ahmedabad, Gujarat
– Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh
– Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh
– Solapur, Maharashtra
– Davanagere, Karnataka
– Indore, Madhya Pradesh
– New Delhi Municipal Council, Delhi
– Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu
– Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh
– Belagavi, Karnataka
– Udaipur, Rajasthan
– Guwahati, Assam
– Chennai, Tamil Nadu
