The Andhra Pradesh government has sanctioned Rs 3.76 billion for taking up development works in Kakinada, which found a place on the first list of 20 Smart Cities announced by the Union government under the Smart City Mission (SCM).
The State government had earlier constituted a Special Purpose Vehicle, the Kakinada Smart City Corporation Limited, to take up development works in Kakinada.
The cities selected under the SCM project will get an allocation of Rs 1 bn for each of the five years of the mission period.
