Dehradun civic authorities have made proposals for Smart City including retrofitting of more areas such as Gandhi Park, Parade Ground, and Doon hospital besides others which are an integral part of the city.

An official said   under the Smart City proposal, a government structure is being turned into a ‘green building’ for energy conservation by deploying solar panels.

Another suggestion is to build cycling track to connect Basant Vihar and Indira Nagar as these two localities have broad roads.

Officials have also referred to the need of “convergence” of  government schemes such as AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) and others which are interlinked through infrastructure development.

Retrofitting under Zone 4 will include construction of footpaths, repair of roads, installation of underground dustbins, electric buses for transport, intelligent poles, bicycle tracks, public bio-digesters. There will be emphasis on maintaining the greenery of the city.
