Chinese telecommunication equipment maker Huawei has announced that it is ready to kick off a number of Indian Smart City projects in tie-ups with its Indian partners.
Joe So, CTO of Industry Solutions Enterprise Business Group, said Huawei is initiating a lot of projects with its Indian partners.
“However our strategy is to be focused on certain areas rather than doing everything,” he told Economic Times suggesting the initial focus would be on public safety.
The company is in talks with the Indian government to build trust and inform it can provide the best equipment at reasonable prices.
As an infrastructure provider for ICT solutions of Smart Cities, it offers an open platform for applications in vertical layers. It is seeking partners among Indian system integrators and software developers to form a Smart Cities platform.
Huawei is continuously investing its resources in India, and considers it as one of the important markets for the enterprise business.
“We see there are tremendous opportunities in India. It’s very competitive as well,” Joe said.
