Thiruvananthapuram city corporation has formed a special committee as part of preparing new master plan.
The 21-member committee will have Mayor as the chairperson and include secretary, heads of standing committees, deputy mayor, superintendent engineer, regional town planner, two former town planners and selected councillors.
The council also approved the decision to form an advisory board and working group comprising experts in various development sectors.
Group discussions on key sectors like transport, housing and slum, tourism, heritage, education, disaster management, basic amenities will be held and suggestions compiled.
The civic body will follow Smart City model which was adopted in finalising the area for area development proposal in gauging public opinion. A set of programmes have been devised to collect public opinion on master plan.
The state government has already constituted a special team under the town planning wing for the preparation of new master plan of Thiruvananthapuram.
