Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) officials have sealed a residential building on Maddox Road at Vepery for gross violation of the approved plan.
High drama prevailed during the lock and seal proceedings, with the owner allegedly created ruckus preventing authorities from carrying out their work, sources said.
According to CMDA sources, the owner had obtained permission for constructing a stilt plus two floors in 2009. “However, three additional floors were added with partial constructions made on the sixth floor. The building was locked and sealed earlier as well,” an official said.
The owner was granted time for demolishing the deviated structure after he went for an appeal, sources said. As corrective measures were not taken, the building was sealed on March 6.
