The notification for land acquisition for the new Pune airport in Purandar is not expected anytime soon, Maharashtra Airport Development Company Limited (MADC) has said.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had earlier stated that the land acquisition for the project would start “very soon” reported Times of India.

However, senior MADC officials told TOI that until the master plans for the project were ready, order for land acquisition cannot be given.

“The master plan or the detailed project report is being prepared by the consultant at the moment. Simultaneously, MADC is preparing another master plan,” MADC Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Suresh Kakani said.

Valsa Nair Singh, Secretary of the State Civil Aviation Department, said that there was no deadline regarding the operations at Pune airport.
