Following is the list of 98 cities nominated by the government for Smart Cities. Two other cities will be announced later. The central government has earmarked Rs 480 billion for the development of 100 Smart Cities. Each Smart City would get a Central assistance of Rs 10 billion per year for five years.

The cities were selected through intra-city competition evaluated on parameters such as service levels, financial and institutional capacity, past track record and reforms.
