The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC), which lagged behind in getting citizen opinions for the Smart City Project, is now eyeing to generate as many responses as possible before it prepares the next proposal.

In an innovative move the, civic body has decided to take views in bulk from parents of Gujarat board examinees.

Mayor Bharat Dangar said parents waiting outside exam halls can be approached to seek their suggestions for Smart City.

The VMC could generate only around 2,000 responses when it prepared the first proposal. It had lagged behind other Indian cities on this front and this is believed to be one of the reasons why it did not score well and was not included in the first list of 20 Smart City aspirants.

The civic body is now exploring means to ensure that it generates good citizens’ responses for the next proposal that will have to be submitted by June.
