Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation has started work on improving the Smart City proposal, which it had sent to the Union Urban Ministry in December for selection in the second round of the Smart City Mission.
In the earlier proposal, the civic body had drawn up an estimate of around Rs 11.20 billion to be spent on various infrastructure projects.
Now based on feedback from the general public on fresh proposal, the project will be send to Lucknow-based Regional Centre for Urban and Environmental Studies (RCUES) for further improvement.
A total of 12 cities across Uttar Pradesh, including Ghaziabad, had been shortlisted by the state government to be developed as Smart Cities in the first phase of the mission.
However, not a single city from the state figured in the final list of 20 cities that were declared for development in the first phase of the mission on Jan 28.
