Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has said in a few months, Nagpur will join the list of Smart Cities being prepared by the Union Urban Ministry.

Maharashtra has shortlisted Nagpur among the ten important cities that will be upgraded under the ambitious central scheme.

Under the Smart Cities mission launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 100 cities would get special financial assistance to develop better infrastructure and civic amenities to improve citizens’ quality of life.

The second capital of Maharashtra, which also happens to be the hometown of Fadnavis, has its own significance because of its rail and road connectivity across East-West and North-South zones.

Fadnavis said, “We are committed to holistic development of Nagpur with 24×7 water and power supply. We are working to strengthen our infrastructure with better roads.”
