After failing at the ‘all India’ selection of top 20 Smart Cities in India, Lucknow could miss the second chance to make it to the fast track round because of poor coordination and unwillingness of various government departments to share their future projects, Times of India has reported.
Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC), which was supposed to be ready with a revised Smart City proposal by now, has been unable to upgrade the plan because of late arrivals of signed MOUs from departments.
It was supposed to present the revised proposal to the state government on April 6 but it is going to miss the deadline due to lack of preparedness.
The delay would impact submission of the plan to the Centre before the April 21 deadline.
LMC official said departments like State Archaeological department and Green Gas Limited are reluctant to sign the MoU with it to take forward the Smart City plans. There is also no coordination with the city’s waste-treatment plant.
The newspaper reported there is still a lack of citizen’s preparedness to support the Smart City movement with abysmally low participation on social networking sites.
