The Cuttack Development Authority is to launch crackdown against illegal commercial establishments.

It has formed a high level committee, CDA’s law officer and enforcement squad, to identify illegal commercial establishments in the city.

It will conduct surprise raids on different shops, showrooms and malls in the city and check whether   they had proper building approval and other necessary permissions.

The committee will also check if there has been any illegal construction at the commercial complex. On a priority basis, the committee will start its crackdown from Palamandap and Badambadi localities, the major commercial hub in the city.

Vice-Chairman of CDA, Sarat Chandra Nayak said: “No leniency will be showed to those who have violated the approved building plan and made illegal constructions to run commercial establishments. For people’s safety wherever required necessary demolition will also be carried out.”
